Welcome to Georgetown
Georgetown
Georgetown is a charming, large town that is located just over 50 kilometres east of Toronto. The largest community in the Halton Hills, Georgetown is best known for its stunning downtown that is rich with history and period properties.
What makes this area truly special is its small town feel but still located within commuting distance to the Greater Toronto Area’s prime employment centres. It’s just minutes from the 401 and 407 for easy connectivity and access to GO Transit.
Amenities
Georgetown may be considered a regional town, but it still offers everything the community needs for day to day living. It has its own hospital and plenty of shopping in the Georgetown Marketplace Shopping Centre. There is an abundance on offer here for both residents and visitors.
Downtown
Georgetown is known for its fantastic town centre and for having one of the prettiest main streets in the GTA. Within the downtown, you will find the Halton Hills Cultural Centre, Halton Hills Library, and the very popular Georgetown Farmers Market.
The downtown, Fairgrounds Park, and Cedarvale Park are popular neighbourhood hubs that offer plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities. The town hosts many events including live theatre, concerts, art exhibits, festivals, and special events. The 260 seat John Elliott Theatre is the home to many local performing arts groups and regularly hosts traveling shows.
Glen Williams
Located on the north end of Georgetown is the neighbourhood of Glen Williams, which is actually one of the last remaining hamlets in Ontario. Many of the homes here are considered heritage buildings. They give the area a distinctive character that is full of charm.
The community here is tight knit and only has a couple of restaurants, a café and an assortment of artists cafes. Homes here are nestled amongst the nature of Ontario and residents get the opportunity to enjoy the local wildlife in the nearby conservation areas.
Georgetown South
Georgetown South has become popular for new and young families. The subdivisions here are newer with homes being built from the 1990s and 2000s. They are located in and around Dominion Gardens Park and Gellert Community Park.
The beautiful Dominion Gardens Park offers a gorgeous assortment of local and imported flora that were originally planted by the Dominion Seed House company. The young families that live in the area often come here to walk, hike, bicycle, or picnic.
If you are considering making the move to one of the Greater Toronto Area’s most charming towns, get in touch. I’m happy to discuss your real estate requirement, the local market, and to help you find your ideal property.
